With a rambunctious and unforgettable late night show of the latest and greatest postminimal tunes in the jukebox, Contemporaneous takes downtown experimental artist venue The Stone by storm. Every few weeks a different musician or organization is responsible for curating the programs, and this July the uniquely experimental and innovative New Albion Records has invited Contemporaneous to perform on their run of shows at this downtown venue.

The third work to be commissioned by Contemporaneous, founding co-artistic director Dylan Mattingly's Lighthouse (Refugee Music by a Pacific Expatriate) presents a unique and riveting take on American folk music in his ode to the Pacific Ocean in a down-to-Earth yet intricately sophisticated package. Brooklyn-based composer and singer Gabrielle Herbst's piece Stormy Goggles combines a sensory ambiance with a rock-infused core in an intimate and soul-wrenching experience. Next on the jukebox playlist is a pulsing and beautiful work for electric guitar and string quartet by The National's Bryce Dessner. The second movement of John Adams' wild, flying, and rarely performed new String Quartet rounds off this night of the greatest new additions to the postminimalist jukebox.
