Tristan Kasten-Krause is an upright and electric bassist living in Brooklyn, praised for providing his “low-end authority to vital New York institutions” (The New Yorker) such as Argento Chamber Ensemble, Wet Ink and Ensemble Signal in addition to Contemporaneous. He has premiered new works with Steve Reich at the Guggenheim, performed on broadway in the Tony award-winning Oklahoma! and has been a featured artist on the Hudson Basilica’s 24 Hour Drone Festival. He has worked and performed with some of the 21st century's most prominent artists including David Lang, Alvin Lucier, Steve Reich, Caroline Shaw, John Luther Adams, and Howard Shore. Tristan is founder and host of the avant-garde pirate radio program Currently Spinning, co-founder of the commissioning rock ensemble Real Loud, half of the experimental harp and bass duo Marilu Donovan & Tristan Kasten-Krause, and bassist for the bands Marateck, and Ecce Shnak.
